Greatest Showman - Movie Review ★★★☆☆

Emily F. ('20)

Released on February 16th 2018, the movie directed by Michael Gracy is one of the most popular musicals of the year.

Hugh Jackman stars in another musical which shows off his talents in not only dance but he manages to secure a crowd with his amazing voice. He’s not alone in this long awaited film with a cast of many including the stunning Zac Efron whom we all know and love from High School Musical. The movie “The Greatest Showman”, which also features Spider-Man Homecoming star Zendaya, was one of the most liked movies of 2018.

The plot follows the story of young P.T Barnum and his rise from nothing to the world famous circus director. He faces a series of obstacles on his way to success with his lack of money, his family problems and the drama associated with fame. Michelle Williams, recipient of several accolades, stars as the doting wife who gives up everything to help her husband chase his dream. The story brings a rollercoaster of emotions, from heartwarming and tear-jerking scenes to scenes that will crack you up.

If you like romance combined with a musical twist, this movie is perfect for you. It is 100% family-friendly and is perfect for a  movie night but make sure you have plenty of tissues nearby. As an action and sci-fi movie enthusiast, I can only give this film  3 / 5 stars as it did not contain enough suspense and action for me.
