The school understands the seriousness of food allergies. The school maintains a list of students with food allergies and shares this important information with the cafeteria staff. The parents are also expected to update their children’s allergy information at the beginning of the school year. To minimize the risk, the cafeteria staff consistently label the ingredients in food and beverages served. Two resident nurses are available to treat allergic reactions and they maintain emergency doses of students’ anti-allergy medication. However, it is important to note that the students and their parents are primarily responsible to minimize the risks associated with food allergies.
