High School Inter-House Floor Hockey Competition
Rachel Grantham

We saw students representing our four house teams displaying strength, grit, determination and physicality.

The first High School Inter-House event physical (P) event, which took place on Friday, 27th January, in the gym, was the 2023 High School Inter-House Floor Hockey Competition. We saw students representing our four house teams displaying strength, grit, determination and physicality. Each house featured students across the High School section from Grades 9 to 12 working collaboratively, adopting various offensive and defensive roles within the team to score as many goals as possible.

After an exciting afternoon of competition, excellent team spirit and sportsmanship during the round-robin competition, the first and second-place final saw Ontake and Chokai competing, with Ontake emerging as the champions of the 2023 High School Inter-House Floor Hockey Competition. The Ontake team displayed tactical awareness, speed, skill and strong decision-making prowess, leading them to be eventual competition champions. Chokai put up a brave fight and defended well with lots of scoring opportunities but only managed to secure a second-place win.

After a nail-biting third and fourth-place final,  Iwaki and Asama had to go into a penalty shoot-out competition to determine the winner, neither team scored any goals. Asama achieved one goal and obtained a one-third place, with Iwaki placing fourth.

Congratulations to all teams and players.

Have a lovely Spring break.

Kind regards,
House Committee

As part of their exit from the CAS program, every senior recently sat with their Advisor and the CAS Coordinator for an informal 15-minute chat known as the final interview. Most students were ready to be done with CAS, relieved that they had passed another milestone in their school journey (not just done with CAS, they are also done with the Core!), but still reminisced on the highlights and lowlights of the journey.
