 Congratulations to the middle and high school vocalists and pianists for their beautiful piano and vocal performances at the Honors Recital at  Fureai Hall on Dec.9th & Dec.10th. The students who performed were awardees at the Solo and Ensemble Festival for Pianists and Vocalists.  High School pianists in grade 9~11 will be featured in the February Honors Recital, so please stay tuned! 

 

Upcoming events: 

Student composers from the Kanto Plain will have an opportunity to participate in the KPASS Composition Festival 2025 at the end of this month.  Highest achievers will have a chance to receive an All-Star rating, and have their music shared with the Kanto Plain community. Students who successfully write for a concert band, string orchestra, and choir will also have a chance to have their piece premiered by the KPASS Honor ensembles for the next academic year.  This year, Hwi Young Kim (G12) will have her concert band piece “One Thousand and One Nights - The Silk Road” premiered by the KPASS Honor Band as an All-Star awardee from the KPASS Composition Festival 2024.

The Seisen Jazz Band will perform at the KPASS Jazz Festival 2025 on February 7th.  The KPASS Jazz Festival is hosted by St.Mary’s International School. This year, the festival will also inaugurate the KPASS Honor Jazz Band.  From Seisen, Yangfan Su (Gr12 Alto Sax), Sora Ihara (G9, Trombone), and Mei Yamada (G9, drums) were selected for the ensemble by audition. Congratulations! 

 

The KPASS Instrumental Solo & Ensemble Festival 2025 will take place at Christian Academy of Japan on February 15th. From Seisen, 26 students from middle and high school will be participating this year, and they will have an opportunity to receive feedback from instrumental specialists as well as festival ratings.  Seisen awardees will have an opportunity to perform at the Honors Recital at the Fureai Hall on February 26th.

Grade 11 IBDP Mini-Exhibition

The Grade 11 students show an impressive diversity and breadth in their work, with a willingness to explore and take risks with different media, which speaks to their autonomy and creativity as maturing Art students.

KPASS Middle School Band Festival

The event also included a performance by the Kanto Plain Select Band, comprised of top middle school instrumentalists from those five participating schools. The Select Band students, who rehearsed on one Saturday to put three pieces together, capped the festival with an impressive performance.

Seisen Team Takes Silver at KPASS Dance Festival 2025

The Seisen KPASS Dance Team rehearsed their 7-minute routine during free time during the school day and after school, when possible. The routine consisted entirely of professional choreography from a mix of dance forms, including K-Pop, hip-hop, and Afrobeats.
