Thank you seniors for sharing your musical talent throughout your middle and high school years; we will miss you dearly and hope that music continues to bring you joy in your next chapters! 

Over 1600 students, parents, faculty and staff, and members of the general public saw the show at one of its matinee and evening performances.

We invited some prospective new members to join us in learning a piece for the next school year.

April 16th was a busy day for our choir students, with many performing at the SPA Luncheon before returning in the evening for the Spring Choir Concert.

The students explored 3 new construction techniques; coiling, slab building and wheel throwing and then were tasked to create a vessel of their own design using their preferred method, or a combination of 2

Adding to the evening's magic was the world premiere of Hwi Young Kim's award winning composition, One Thousand and One Nights - Silk Road performed by the KPASS Honor Band. (See Student Spotlight for more on this achievement).

This was the first time for the groups to perform their scenes publicly, as they are still in the developmental phase of Unit 2 for the class on Partner Acting.

This year, we had the incredible opportunity to work with Dr. Timothy Westerhaus from Northern Arizona University during a choral workshop on Monday, March 3rd.

I would like to congratulate the exhibiting artists from Seisen on their outstanding achievements in Visual Art.

Despite the added challenges of recent class trips and mock exams, all 21 instrumentalists delivered outstanding performances.

The day was packed with learning, thanks to insightful workshops led by the adjudicators, culminating in a thrilling performance by these jazz masters.

Each group created every element of the performance, including the sets, the scripts of the stories, and even the puppets as their Unit 2 summative project.

Choirs, soloists, student-led ensembles, and guest performers.

Our KG learners did a terrific job of creatively sharing the story of Jesus’s birth through the songs.

Grade 8 took a dive into the works of legendary street photographer Moriyama Daido (森山 大道) and how he views the world through his works.

Students from middle and high school will have an opportunity to receive feedback from instrumental specialists and festival ratings. 

Several of our Seisen students will be joining the St. Mary’s student musicians put on a fundraiser show.

Grade 7 students are currently working on preparing sets, stories, and puppets for their Unit 2 summative project – puppet shows for the KG students. 

Grade 5 homerooms presented Christmas productions for an audience of parents, teachers, and other ES students.

The concert also featured the St.Mary's, Seisen, & Sacred Heart Concert Band, a tri-school concert band.

Seisen has been gifted with such talented instrumentalists and singers, and we are so thankful for their dedication to music and willingness to share their craftsmanship and artistry with our community.

The High School Choir, HS Vocal Ensemble, and MS Vocal Ensemble had the privilege of performing a Charity Concert at the beautiful Hotel New Otani.

The students who received gold or silver are invited to perform in our Student Recitals which will take place on Monday, 12/9 (High school) and Tuesday, 12/10 (Middle School) at the Nakamachi Fureai Hall.

Grade 9 investigated how Sustainable Development Goals are incorporated into building design and construction.

The talk focused on their journey through academia, as well as internships in notable art galleries in New York such as the MoMa and the Whitney.

The Seisen Wind Ensemble and the Seisen String Ensemble participated in the KPASS Band & Orchestra Festival held at American School in Japan on November 14th.

At the festival, students were split into eight groups, each combining people from different schools and led by a Drama teacher from one of the participating schools.

At the Centenary Mass on Friday, October 25th, the high school choir led the entire school in hymns, joined by selected singers from the elementary and middle school sections.

Seisen’s Drama Teacher Dr. Reimer and SMIS’s Mr. Stovall directed productions of Antigone by Sophocles and a 1980s version of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, which involved 59 Grades 9-12 students from the two schools.

The play, titled “The Birthday Party Problem” was based on the popular Disney animation “Sofia The First”.

The show was a 40-minute  presentation consisting of folktales from across Japan compiled and translated to English by 19th-century author Lafacadio Hearn.

Inspired by Kusama’s unique style, the students designed and created their own clay pumpkins.

Students in Mr. Jimenez’s Grade 12 Diploma Art class spent the day last Wednesday at both the Mori Art Museum and the National Art Center, Tokyo.

Seisen high schoolers joined other students from international schools across the Kanto region for the 2024 KPASS High School Drama Festival, 

*Video Included* The choir had the distinct honor of opening the afternoon concert for an audience of approximately 300 Seisen staff members from across Japan.

The concert’s main goal is to promote the Philippines' rich cultural and musical heritage to the international communities in Tokyo City. 

Students were then tasked with taking 100 photos from their perspective of their daily lives over the course of 2 weeks.

It was truly amazing what they were able to accomplish in just three weeks!
