On Wednesday the 24th of September, our Grade 12 Visual Arts class visited the Mori Art Museum where they had the opportunity to see the fantastic exhibition by Japanese Architect Sou Fujimoto called Primordial Future Forest.

The exhibition artfully makes use of the space at the Mori, filling it with examples of his design ideas, models, and experimentations into an impressive large-scale installation experience.

The result is a stunning exposition of creative thinking, which was of particular benefit for a trio of Grade 12s looking to pursue Architecture at university this year. The exhibit also provided with ways for them to see how a creative thinker like Fujimoto incorporates design ideas and materials masterfully to fulfill his artistic intentions.

The exhibition also directly reflects the educational ideas and intentions of the Grade 9 Green Architecture unit featured in last November’s newsletter.
