Grade 11 DP Students Cohort Embark on Their First Gallery Visit
Kyle Jimenez

Students in Grade 11 DP Visual Arts embarked on their first gallery visit as a DP cohort. To start the day, they kicked it off in Ueno park, and visited the Tokyo National Museum’s special Exhibition, ‘Ooku Women of Power in Edo Castle.

The exhibition allowed students to learn about the lives of the wives, daughters, and ladies-in-waiting of the Tokugawa Shogun through the various artifacts they lived with including ukiyo-e prints, kimono, and various accessories they used to prepare themselves each day.

After lunch at a nearby restaurant, their next stop was the National Museum of Western Art’s special Exhibition ‘Renaissance to Baroque: Master Drawings”. This exhibition featured early sketches and studies from the 14th-16th century. Even though it was a long and hot day at Ueno park, it was an enriching experience filled with culture and art.
