On February 5th and 7th, Grade 7 students presented a series of puppet shows of Japanese folktales for KG students in their classrooms.

Drama 7A students presented “Urashima Taro” to KG Tulip using shadow puppets, and “The Gigantic Turnip” using sock puppets to KG Daffodil. Drama 7M students presented “The Marriage of the Young Mouse Girl” using sock puppets to KG Bluebell, “The Ainu and the Bear” using shadow puppets for KG Snowdrop, “The Crane Girl” using stick puppets to KG Tulip, “The Hare and the Tortoise” using cup puppets to KG Daffodil, “The Rolling Rice Ball” using paper puppets to KG Violet, and “The Snow Woman” using sock puppets in KG Primrose.

Each group created every element of the performance, including the sets, the scripts of the stories, and even the puppets as their Unit 2 summative project.

The KG students were enraptured by the MS performers and their presentations. Afterward, they asked many questions to the Grade 7 students and even got to try using the puppets.

Pictures of the performances can be found on Vidigami.
