The MS basketball A and B teams travelled to ASIJ on Saturday for their end of season jamboree and tournament.

The B team played several informal games and ended with a 2 - 2 record on the day.

The A team started their tournament in the quarterfinals, defeating St. Maur 36 - 25. In the semi-finals, Seisen played YIS, the number one seed and only undefeated team. Thanks to some key end of game shots, the Phoenix upset YIS to make it to the championship game.

In the championship game against ASIJ, the A team struggled in the first half, falling behind by 12 points at halftime. However, they fought back in the second half, bringing the game to within 1 point in the 4th quarter. In the end, the Phoenix came up a little short, but the players were happy to finish 2nd place in the league.

Lisa Purcell led the team on the day with 16 points, 42 rebounds, and 15 steals, while Alice McKellin had 8 points and 19 rebounds. Pearl Dutki, Riana Hiramatsu, Miu Okuda, and Miki Haggstrom all added about 10 points and 10 rebounds each, and Reina Yokoshi led the team with 10 assists on the day.

Congratulations to all middle school basketball players on a fun and exciting season!

Each year the St. Raphaela Day of Service increases in size and variety of projects. Our hope is that students will continue with many of the projects throughout the year.

Today we welcomed parents whose daughters will be starting in first grade next August. We talked about teaching and learning in grade 1 and explored the PYP framework together.
