Seisen Singers Shine at KPASS Competition

Our singers at Seisen had a fantastic weekend at the Kanto Plains Association of Secondary Schools (KPASS) Vocal Solo and Ensemble Competition.

The Kanto Plains Association of Secondary Schools (KPASS) Vocal Solo and Ensemble Competition was held at International School of the Sacred Heart on Saturday. Our singers at Seisen had a fantastic weekend thanks to Ms. Mine and all of her hard work rehearsing with them.  Ms. Hashimoto-Uesaka enjoyed collaborating with them as their accompanist! Here are the results from Saturday:

Seisen Vocal Ensemble - Gold award

Jiaye Xu - Gold award, solo

Millie Kong - Silver award, solo

Fumi, Nimisha, Emilly, Yurino - Silver award, quartet

We are so proud of our multitalented girls.

Refugees International Japan Charity Concert

Seisen performers once again took part in the Refugees International Japan Charity Concert at St. Mary's.

The Seisen Vocal Ensemble launched their concert season at the Refugee International Concert on November 14th at SMIS..  They sang Chi La Gagliarda by Baldassare Donata and The Seal Lullaby by Eric Whitacre.

The singers had an opportunity to collaborate with John Ken Nuzzo (famous tenor, Maria Nuzzo's dad), and our senior Meldy Miyashita played violin solo for the combined song "You Raise Me Up". We raised over 600,000 yen for Refugees International yesterday.

The Seisen Festival of Nations is always a day for members of the local community to come inside the gates of our school and feel the atmosphere of our community. This weekend it is your turn.

Tokyo Metropolitan Engei High School in an agricultural high school that sits on the grounds of what used to be Totoro Castle. Last year they celebrated their 110th Anniversary of teaching students how to grow fruit, vegetables, flowers, and even raise animals. Some Seisen families have adopted pets from their animal care class. All of this is just a 10 minute walk from Seisen on their massive campus in Fukasawa.

This weekend they will hold their School Festival on Saturday and Sunday from 10AM until 3PM. You can purchase flowers grown by the students, sample jams and other food they have made, or even just walk through their rose garden and bonsai tree collection. This arial view of the school shows the fields for growing vegetables, greenhouses and more.

Visiting Tokyo Metropolitan Engei High School is like walking through a park. Visit the campus this weekend, for food, entertainment, and to get back to nature.
