The Long-Term Planning Documents for each grade level map out the learning outcomes for each semester, and specifically the units. Homeroom and single-subject teachers make decisions about which learning outcomes will be integrated into the units of inquiry to support the development of conceptual understandings and which learning outcomes would be better suited as stand-alone units (not integrated into the PYP units of inquiry). The Long-Term Planner acts as a road map for learning, it helps us to ‘Zoom Out’ in order to ‘Zoom In’ to plan at a much closer level; such as analyzing student work samples to help in designing engaging learning experiences to meet the needs of students.
