Grade 2: Eco-Friendly Group Action in the Local Environment

Grade 2: Eco-Friendly Group Action in the Local Environment
  • Grade 2
Serrin Smyth

The student initiated 'Eco-Friendly' Action Group in 2A decided they wanted to walk around Seisen to collect trash around the school, as part of taking action within this group. Their group focuses on raising awareness on eco-friendly issues and taking action within the local environment.

The students (Reina, Kokomi, Liliana, Avani, Lily, Kiki, Aadya, Katie) approached Ms Smyth last week to ask her to ask Ms Rogers for permission to walk off campus around the school premises to engage in this activity.

They had thought of all the steps required for this event to take place.

Our Vision

What we want: pick up rubbish at recess off campus

10:45 - 11:15am (During their break time)

What we need: gloves, tongs, permission, support, material cloth bag

The Eco-Friendly Group Action!

Aadya: I didn't realise there is so, much plastic that we throw away and we don't notice it. I'm proud of picking up the trash. I'd like to do more of this on Saturday and Sunday. I go outside a lot and it's an easy thing to do.

Kokomi: There was SO much rubbish!I felt really responsible to make the Earth a better place and to have a healthier environment. We worked together as a group and I think that's why we collected so much. We were listening to each other's ideas and it was really fun!

Liliana: There was a lot of trash. I'm proud that we made a big difference.

Reina: We made the earth safe. We took action and animals won't die from the plastic.

Kiki: The Earth is like a person, it's like having something on your body that you don't want on you. We helped it.

Katie: I'm proud of picking up the trash because it helps the Earth to be more healthy.

Avani: We had a big effect. Well, even though it's a small action, small changes can really help the Earth.

Lily: I'm so proud that I helped nature and plants and bugs. I worked with my team to help the Earth be clean.

We are extremely proud of the initiative of these students and their selfless acts to think of others and our local environment.
