Mr Shinji Negi from the Nippon Foundation Paralympic Support Center first visited Seisen last school year. In Spring 2019 he introduced students in Grades 4-6 about the Para-sports movement, wheelchair basketball and his personal journey. Last week he was back for his second visit to Seisen, this time to work with Middle and High School students.

A group of Grade 10 volunteers who are interested in helping with the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics took the lead and assisted Mr. Negi as he shared his experiences with students. The volunteers (Victoria, Kallin, Sairi, Xinyue, Ayame and Emilie) coordinated with Ms. Takaya and Mr. Brittain ahead of time to ensure that the presentations went smoothly. Roles that they took on included acting as MCs to keep the sessions moving, translating Mr. Negis speeches into English and also translating student questions form English to Japanese. Mr. Negi is a skilled English speaker thanks to years of traveling to international wheelchair basketball competitions, but the translation by the students helped him answer questions to a much deeper degree.
