The fall sports season wrapped up last weekend with most teams participating in an end of season tournament. The Phoenix had a dominating end to the season and really soared to the top! Here are the results.
Tennis
VARSITY TENNIS had their Kanto Finals in Chiba. Isha Kumar made it to the singles semifinals and both doubles teams (Elle Ono/Ayumi Matsuzaki and Mia Akai/Judy Yamamuro) also made it to the semi-finals. They finished 2nd overall as a team and should be proud of their hard work! Harumi Shigekawa and Jiwon Suk also placed 3rd in the JV Tennis Doubles Tournament!
JV TENNIS had their Kanto Finals on Saturday and doubles 1 team of Sabrina Henderson and Minyoung Song finished as JV Doubles Champions!
Cross Country
Middle School CROSS COUNTRY won the last race of the season against other international schools and finished their season undefeated. Zafira Strauss, Minami Kota, Ellen Ka, Kokomi Sakurai, and Jisun Yoon all finished in the top 10!
Varsity CROSS COUNTRY ran their last race at Tama hills and had a phenomenal showing, all five runners placing in the top 12 and winning the race, edging out Sacred Heart by 2 points! Congrats to Lilika Yasumura, Ashley Grantham, Leesze Wei, Ako Dambara, and Farah Mohamed.
Volleyball
Middle School A team VOLLEYBALL competed in their end of season tournament on Saturday at ASIJ. They beat Nishimachi in the quarterfinal, ASIJ in the semi-final, and YIS in the final to be A team champions!
JV VOLLEYBALL was at CAJ for their end of season tournament and beat AISJ JVB in quarterfinals, CAJ in semifinals, and ASIJ in the finals, taking the JV volleyball championship!
Varsity Volleyball was at Sacred Heart for their Kanto tournament and advanced straight to the semi-finals beating Sacred Heart and ASIJ in the finals to also be undefeated league champions all season!
