During the 2022-2023 school year Seisen International School will hold a series of celebration to help us celebrate our 60th Anniversary. In April we asked the community to help us celebrate by designing a logo that can be used for our year of events.

The competition was open to any member of the SIS community over our first 60 years. We had entries from:

  • Current students (KG, ES, MS and HS)
  • Former students
  • Current parents
  • Former parents
  • Current faculty and staff

Choosing a winner

Our "60th Anniversary Logo Committee" had the enjoyable, but still difficult, task of looking at 112 beautiful, anonymous designs. After much deliberation we are happy to share our winners.

Descriptions of Love

For each entry we asked the artist to include a short description of their work. Here are a few descriptions that highlight the love the Seisen Community has for our school.

  • This logo celebrates the love that has flourished and continues to grow within the Seisen community over the past 60 years.
  • I used the earth big because I wanted to show that Seisen community are from all around the world. I put love hearts to show that Seisen is filled with love!
  • The merged navy section symbolizes our ability to harmonize with each other, despite the difference in background.
  • I made the frame the shape of heart because Seisen is a loving school.
  • This design shows a child and a parent in the form of the number 60. I created it that way to incorporate the idea of connection between people.
  • The 60 forms a heart and the overall design is also a heart lock, this could symbolize the schools love and connections and integrity.
  •  also used the world to show people in Seisen are from all around the world and we all support and love each other ,so I put a little heart inside the world.
  • In a subtle way, the navy and burgundy colors in the inner circle connotes the yin yang symbol, representing interconnectedness.
  • This logo celebrates the love that the Seisen family has shared over the past 60 years, and also in hopes that we will continue to cherish the many Seisen values that guide us in life.
  • I wanted to symbolize Seisen's ever-burning spirit, so I used phoenix wings.
  • My design is about the happiness that Seisen brought to all the people throughout the 60 years
  • when colored black or fully one color, the 60 circle area makes out an Infinity sign, demonstrating how our school will continue thriving.

"Seisen Phoenix rising from the ashes and spreading love in the world - just like every Seisen girl!"

Elle Ono (HS Student)

"This logo emphasizes Seisen's 60th anniversary, and uses the school mascot as a main concept and visual element. I have included both traditional shades of Seisen's colors as well as more modern and pastel-like shades to highlight the difference in time."

Chaeeun Oh (ES Student)

"The 60 is in the pattern of Seisen skirt, which we wear every day. I used the colors maroon, navy, green, which are Seisen colors. I also used grey as background, so that the words will stand out."

60th Anniversary Logo Competition Winner

After careful consideration the committee decided that Elle Ono's design concept was the one we wanted to use. Using her original layout and colours Elle made a few changes, including adding the Seisen shield in the background.

I was definitely not expecting my design to be selected, as there were many other contestants. It was truly great to be a part of the process, and I am very honored.

This design is already in in use around the school on stickers, posters and on the website. We are sure that you will be seeing this modern design quite frequently over the next year.
