Thank-you to all those who donated money during our Dress Down Day to celebrate International Day of the Girl Child! With our school-wide donations we managed to raise ¥186,500, which will send 23 girls from disadvantaged backgrounds to school at Children’s House in Tamil Nadu, India for one year. We will be sending cards made by Elementary students to these lucky girls.

Thank you in particular to an Elementary Family who were inspired to donate ¥30,000. The family watched a documentary about a young girl in Bangladesh who wanted to go to school but was forced to get married instead. This shows the compassion in our Seisen community.

A special thank-you also to Tsuji Akemi, CEO of Education Sponsorship Asia through whom we are donating the proceeds of our fundraising event. Tsuji-san was our guest speaker on October 11th and met many of our Grade 4 and 5 students. Here are a couple of words from her:

Education Sponsorship Asia

Dear Seisen International School in Tokyo,

On behalf of Education Sponsorship in Asia, thank you for raising fund for the sake of Children’s Homes in Tamil Nadu, in India.  With the generous giving of all the students and teachers of International School of Seisen in Tokyo, the fund has reached 186,500 JPY, which ensures every child at Children’s Home is cared.

ESA aims at providing education to all those children whose parents are unable to enroll them in school.  Especially at three Children’s Homes, girls take shelter due to the loss of family members, child abuse, or abandonment. It is so lucky for them to gain friends in Japan, who care about their wellbeing.

We would like to extend our warm gratitude toward all of you have participated this act of love.

Sincerely,

Akemi Tsuji

Thank you!
