Alumna Sharing Session: University of British Columbia

Zoom call

On Wednesday 24 November, Shuli Ko (Class of 2017) shared her university experiences at University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, with our high school students. Shuli has recently graduated from UBC with a BA Major in Human Geography and Minor in Urban Studies and she is now working full time in Vancouver.

"I appreciated how Shuli provided us with information that can't be found on the internet. During the Q&A session, she explained how students are not confined/tied down to their specific major/minor in UBC, and integration of different faculties are possible through clubs and networking sessions which opens up opportunities. Not only did she talk about the university, she also touched upon Canada as a country (people, atmosphere, weather) which was extremely helpful as I have never visited Canada before." Riana Hiramatsu (Class of 2022)

I was very thrilled to be able to share my journey so far since graduating from Seisen in 2017 through this alumni talk session. As I was born and raised in Tokyo and attended Seisen since the age of three, I understand how exciting and nervous it is to decide where to spend the next few years of your life after high school. I wanted this session to be as interactive and personal as possible for the students, so I shared my experiences at the University of British Columbia and life in Vancouver through a Q&A style dialogue. There are many things about university and living independently that I wish I knew in advance when I was in high school, so I tried to share experiences beyond what can be found online. I really appreciated the questions that the high school students were asking and genuinely enjoyed connecting with them through this platform! Shuli Ko (Class of 2017)
