During our talk with Seisen Alumni Shion Ishibashi (Class of 2017), we learned about many opportunities and experiences she has gained from attending Glion Institute of Higher Education. The talk was very insightful as I was able to gain knowledge about the hospitality industry from a student’s perspective.

Hands On Opportunities Around the World

It made me think about the hands-on opportunities you can receive from attending a school that revolves around hospitality. Furthermore, I found it interesting that within your typical 4-year university life, you can switch to multiple campuses worldwide and even intern anywhere you want to go. Shion talked about her internship experiences, including at Ritz Carlton Tokyo, and how Glion guided her to what she wants to accomplish in the future.

Reflection from Shion

Reflecting on My Journey

“I truly enjoyed the opportunity to talk and connect with the current Seisen students. It reminded me of how motivated and excited I was to start studying hospitality management, and it gave me a moment to reflect on how far I have come with my journey in this industry.

I truly believe that the hospitality industry is a well fitting industry for students who are from and are familiar with an international environment.
Being in this industry gives me the opportunity to interact with people from numerous backgrounds, travel to a multitude of countries, and create countless memories with colleagues and guests which are truly priceless.

The Importance of Connecting with Alumni

When I was looking into this industry back in high school, I did not know of any alumni I could talk to, so I am very excited to see the interest from the younger students.” Shion (Class of 2017)
