What are your fondest memories of Seisen International School?

My fondest memories of Seisen are the moments I spent in science class. I have to admit that I never particularly liked science, but somehow, Mr. Lee always made it enjoyable whenever he was teaching. One memory that still makes me laugh is the day we had the opportunity to touch a pig’s heart. While several of my classmates were squeamish at the sight of blood, I was completely unfazed. In that moment, I remember thinking, “Maybe I really could become a doctor!” Another cherished memory was the time we spent talking about One Direction and debating who our favorite members were. Looking back, those simple conversations and moments of laughter are some of the memories I treasure most from Seisen.

How did your education at Seisen influence your career path?

What ultimately inspired me to become an educator were the teachers who believed in students who struggled academically or lacked confidence in themselves. I never imagined that one day I would be standing in front of my own classroom, advocating for students and speaking passionately about what I believe they deserve. I have come to understand that every child has their own unique way of connecting with education and finding their place within it. Ironically, I once disliked school and education, but today I love being an educator because I can see the impact I have on my students. I especially want to give a heartfelt shoutout to Mr. Granger, who believed in me as a student when others doubted my abilities. His belief in me made a lasting impact and helped me realize how powerful it can be when a teacher simply refuses to give up on a student.

What life advice would you give current students?

If I could give my younger self one piece of advice, it would be to explore while you can and choose a career that allows your strengths to shine. Do not simply follow the trends or choose a path because everyone else seems to be doing it. Take it from me—I learned that lesson the hard way. The right career is not necessarily the one that looks the most impressive from the outside; it is the one that allows you to use your strengths, grow as a person, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Looking back, I am grateful that my experiences at Seisen ultimately helped lead me toward education and the person I am today.
