The full day and afternoon sports campers went off campus during the first week to experience different activities such as rock climbing, swimming and skating.  The afternoon campers went bouldering on Tuesday for an hour.  Bouldering is a lot like rock climbing, however there is no harness and its closer to the ground.  For many students, this was their first time doing this activity, which allowed them to be exposed to something that they have never tried before.  A couple were scared at first, however the instructors and student leaders helped them step out of their comfort zone and try something new.  The location had a couple games planned for the campers, such as races, trying different walls, and a ‘Rock-Paper-Scissors’ activity that allowed them to compete with each other while improving their new skill.

On Wednesday, the full day campers went swimming in the morning, while the half day campers went in the afternoon.  They went to the Nissan Stadium Waterpark in Yokohama because they have a large variety of pools and activities.  The pools were very empty aside from Seisen, which allowed the girls to have more fun as they had more room to play with their friends and student leaders.  This gave all the girls a chance to practice their swimming and play in the water.  Even though the trip was fairly short because of the distance they had to travel, the campers will be going again next week to the same water park to continue their activities.

On Friday, the full day sports campers went ice skating in the morning, while the afternoon campers went rollerblading on Thursday.  For many students this was their first time trying these activities, as they aren’t very easy to access.  Because of this, many learned how to roller-skate or ice skate from the very basics.  This gave the girls a chance to practice and improve on their skills as these activities are very popular so all of the campers had fun.  Even though a couple campers lost their balance a few times, they were able to experience something new and know how to improve on this sport next time.
