The pre first grade students are currently learning and expanding on their knowledge on the basics of reading, writing, and math.

The pre first grade students are currently learning and expanding on their knowledge on the basics of reading, writing, and math.  Taught by Ms. Erika and Ms. Beswick the girls are gradually going over what they know, then continuing to learn new things that will help them as they start Elementary school in August.  In math, the students tell Ms. Erika everything that they know about a certain number, such as how to use it, what it is, and how they can put it in a story/word problem with her numbers.  Then she gives them addition and subtraction problems to help them get the hang of quick addition and subtraction.  She would often use little blocks that create groups of 10s and 100s to them the students visualize the numbers that they are working with.

Seisen is always trying to improve children's English at a young age, so they can continue to speak it fluently as they grow older.  In Ms. Beswick’s class, the girls do multiple reading and writing activities.  One of the activities is to read short stories to Ms. Beswick at their own pace, so she can assist them with the parts that they are stuck on.  Another one would be them having to create sentences on a white board with different magnets that have various words on them.  This helps them on their ability to create sentences out if words that they already know and new words that they are currently learning.
