Taking a Close Look at the Dystopian World Through Literature
Students in the Reading Dystopian Texts Class explore the various themes of Dystopian novels.
Ms. Allen's Reading Dystopian Texts class is both a unique and exciting summer class that enables students to deepen their understanding of a specific genre of literature. In a small class, the 5 students unpack the various themes and messages that are conveyed in dystopian novels. Unlike the regular English curriculum where the texts are assigned to the class, the 5 students get to choose their own books, allowing them to delve deeper into the Dystopian world. Learning how and why Dystopian novels are written through this class provides the students with a platform to develop a better understanding and interest in reading these novels.
