Parent Information Sessions

Parent Information Sessions
Michael Hughes

Last Friday we held two information sessions for parents: A PYP coffee morning on building resilience and a PYP Exhibition family information evening.

Our ES Counselor, Ms. Carnright hosted a PYP Coffee Morning on 'Promoting Resilience During The "Tween" Years'.  With the implementation of the Enhanced PYP, there is an increasing focus on helping to build our students' social, communication and self-management skills.  Parents can be instrumental in guiding their "tweens" during the early adolescent years, and assist them in becoming better friends, students and self-advocates. During the coffee morning, parents discussed the social and emotional aspects of adolescence and discovered how to develop a 'growth mindset'.

Here are the slides from Ms. Carnright's session. If you'd like to follow up with any of the issues discussed at the coffee morning, please email Ms. Carnright on

Then on Friday evening, we hosted our annual PYP Exhibition Family Information Night. This event allows students to come along with their families and learn about what they can expect with the upcoming PYP Exhibition, where students will lead their own inquiries during an eight-week journey! We heard from homeroom and specialist teachers and had some rich conversations about the different aspects of the Exhibition.  You can access the slides from the evening, below.

Thank you to all parents who took the time to come to one or both of these events. We really appreciate your support!
