Grade 5 students compose music for a simulated video project.
Grade 5 students read a list of facts and watched a video on climate change. They pretended that they were hired to write music to play throughout the video - After demonstrating their risk-taking skills in improvisation on barred instruments (and playing improvised solos for each other), students in Grade 5 collaborated with partners to write short melodic phrases that they refined and shared with the class. They re-partnered and are now finishing a unit on the 12 bar blues and how to write lyrics/words for a short 12 bar melody. Fun work!
