How to Read Aloud Like An Expert!

The grade 1s have been getting super smart by reading Non Fiction books! We have also been learning how to read aloud like an expert.

The grade 1s have been getting super smart by reading Non Fiction books! The students are now experts on so many topics and love sharing this learning with their reading partners and class mates.

The latest "bend" or phase of our non fiction reading unit has been focused on reading aloud like an expert. We have practised finding the most important information to emphasis when reading, showing feeling in each part, reading aloud in a teaching or story voice and explaining key words to our listeners.

To show off our reading aloud skills to a new audience, the 1A girls invited our friends from grade 2A to come to our classroom and listen to them read some non fiction books.  Have a listen to Magdalene read aloud to her friend Anastasia.

Emi H and Dru listened to Mirei read aloud like an expert.

Here's Manoka practicing reading aloud like an expert with a book about pancakes.

Have a listen to Kiara practicing reading aloud like an expert with a book about sharks.

Hayoon does a great job reading aloud like an expert with an information book about a cat.

Finally Reina enjoys reading aloud to her partner with a book called "Silver the Seal."

Keep up the great reading grade 1s!
