Procedures
Seisen International School serves the needs of diplomatic, business, and professional families of the international community. It also provides education for Japanese children who have lived abroad and wish to continue their education in English.
Applications are welcome at any time. Parents and prospective students are encouraged to visit the school.
Seisen admits the following students:
- Children of expatriate families who are moving to Japan.
- Children of bicultural families where at least one parent is a native English speaker.
- Children who are fluent in English and speak English at home.
- Japanese children who have spent at least three years abroad in an English speaking school system without ESL support. There need to be objective reasons for placement in an international school rather than within the Japanese system of education.
The procedures to be followed by applicants:
- Complete the application form in full.
- Print the Counselor’s Recommendation form. Have a school official fill it out and mail it directly to us.
- Submit the application form and school record/reports for at least the previous three years to Seisen by mail or in person. The application fee or proof of payment should accompany the application. When paying by bank transfer, please follow the instructions given under “Description of Fees”.
- Arrange for an interview at Seisen.
- Placement tests in English and Math will be given. The principal reserves the right to reject any application for admission.
Parents will be informed of the status of their application by phone, fax or email. A letter of acceptance, certificate of endorsement and the invoice will then be mailed to the family. Upon return of the endorsement certificate, payment of the registration fee, and receipt of the medical examination results, the student is officially enrolled.
